Tirumala-bound devotee allegedly murders wife and brother-in-law in Tirupati hotel

TIRUPATI: A devotee on a pilgrimage to Tirumala from Maharashtra allegedly killed his wife and brother-in-law during their stay at a private hotel in Tirupati city on Friday. The police are investigating the incident, with initial reports suggesting financial issues and family disturbances as possible motives.

The accused, identified as Yuvaraj, a resident of Nanded district in Maharashtra, arrived in Tirupati on Thursday with his wife, Narvadi Manisha (25), their two children (aged 6 and 4), and his brother-in-law, N. Harshavardhan (27). The family had come to seek the blessings of Lord Venkateswara and had checked into a private hotel near Kapila Theertham.

According to Alipiri Division Circle Inspector T. Abbanna, the incident occurred around 2 am when, for reasons yet unknown, Yuvaraj allegedly stabbed his wife and brother-in-law. He then fled the scene, leaving the hotel staff in shock. Hotel staff members quickly alerted the police after noticing Yuvaraj leaving the premises with bloodstains on his clothing.

Upon receiving the distressing call, CI Abbanna and a team of police officers rushed to the hotel, and began collecting evidence and statements from witnesses. Following a preliminary examination, the bodies of the deceased were transferred to the government general hospital for post-mortem. The police have registered a case against Yuvaraj and have initiated a search operation to apprehend the suspect.
