Hyderabad: Man accused in 16 theft cases arrested
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad city police on Thursday arrested a notorious thief in Jubilee Hills, who used to decamp laptops from bachelors’ rooms and professionals.
The police said the suspect, Nitturi Snehith Raj, hailing from Godavarikhani in Peddapalli district, was involved in 46 cases in different parts of the state. The police recovered nine laptops worth around '4.2 lakh from him.
According to the police, Snehith Raj alias Abhinavarahu alias Abhiram alias Tinku moved to Hyderabad a few years ago and was working as a laptop technician. He was residing in a boy’s hostel. During his stay in the hostel, he observed the lifestyle of the residents and how they lock their rooms and keep their keys near the doors outside the rooms. After quitting the job, he started targeting hostels and bachelor rooms.
“He would conduct a recce one day before and identify the targets and observe timings of the inmates and execute his plan the next day. He entered the rooms using the keys and decamped with laptops and other valuables.” said Mr K. Purna Chander, Jubilee Hills inspector.
“It was found that warrants related to 16 cases are pending against him,” the inspector added. He was remanded to judicial custody.
