Hyderabad: Kidnapper nabbed within 15 hours
Hyderabad: The Nampally Police on Thursday rescued a four-month-old boy who had been abducted while his mother was asleep on a footpath in Nampally. The abductors were identified as Mohd Mustaq, 42, and Mohd Yousuf, 25.
V. Narendra, the Detective Sub-Inspector (DSI) of Nampally, said that Humera Begum, a 21-year-old resident of Subhanpura, sustained herself by begging for alms in and around Nampally. She usually slept on the footpath near the dargah in Nampally, along with her baby, Faizan Khan.
The baby was abducted while the two were asleep on a footpath on Wednesday night. “The kidnappers, Mushtaq and Yousuf, picked up the infant and fled,” said the DSI.
A case was booked based on a complaint filed by Humera, and special teams were deputed to search for the infant. The abductors were identified and traced within 15 hours of the kidnapping based on CCTV camera footage. The baby was reunited with his mother at 2.30 pm on Thursday by the Nampally Police.
Explaining the motive behind the kidnapping, the DSI said, “Yousuf has a friend named Ghouse in Borabanda. Ghouse told Yousuf that a relative of his was unable to conceive a child and was thus planning to adopt a baby.
Yousuf and Mushtaq hatched a plan to abduct a baby. They took the baby to Ghouse late that night. Ghouse suspected that there was something fishy going on, and he told the duo that he would talk to his relatives and take the baby in the morning, by which time the cops nabbed the abductors.”
