Chennai: Assaulted techie dies, three held
Chennai: A 28-year-old software professional attacked with a helmet by a quartet more than 10 days ago near Virugambakkam succumbed to his injuries at a hospital on Wednesday night.
Rajkumar, a resident of Chinmaya Nagar in Virugambakkam, was assaulted by a group of men who objected to the techie’s behaviour with a female colleague in his workplace.
Rajkumar had proposed his colleague against her wish. Though the woman didn’t reciprocate to his wishes, Rajkumar is said to have followed her everyday asking her to consider his proposal.
The woman had shared the incident with her friend, who along with three others confronted Rajkumar on September 23.
Police said that Jayaseelan of Thiruvanmyur along with his brother Kignston and two others intercepted Rajkumar while he was walking near his house and attacked him with a helmet, all the while asking him to not bother the woman again.
An unconscious Rajkumar was first admitted to an eye hospital and later shifted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital where he died on Wednesday.
Police altered the case to murder and arrested three persons Jayaseelan, his brother Kingston, Praveen and are on the lookout for another man named Abhishek.
