Andhra Pradesh: Engineering student falls off college balcony
Rajahmundry: A girl engineering student accidentally fell off from the parapet wall of the first floor of her multi-storied college building and suffered severe injuries at Chebrole of Gollaprole mandal in East Godavari on Wednesday.
According to Gollaprole police, Sakhileti Geeta Padma hailing from Satyavaram village of Payakaraopeta mandal in Visakhapatnam district is pursuing second year ECE stream at a private engineering college at Cherbrole. She used to attend college by travelling from her home village daily. After completion of Dasara vacation, she was unwilling to attend the college on Wednesday as she was depressed following the death of her father on October 4 a few years ago.
She was reportedly not taking food in the last two days due to depression. However, her mother Jamuna persuaded her to go to college on Wednesday and accordingly, she arrived to the college. As she was feeling dizziness, she leaned to the parapet wall in the first floor of the college building and reportedly slipped and fell down on the ground suffering severe injury to her hip. She was immediately shifted to a private hospital at Kakinada for medical treatment. Her health condition is stable.
Police ruled out any chance of the girl to commit suicide by jumping off the college building as there was no issue in the family forcing her to take such an extreme step except for depression due to death of her father several years ago.
