NCB arrests IAF officer in connection with international drug racket

The officer also confessed that the crores of rupees he had earned from the illicit drug trade.

Hyderabad: Wing Commander G. Rajasekhar Reddy, arrested by the NCB in connection with its probe into an international drug racket, wanted to start a pharma lab with his childhood friend Venkat Rama Rao at Jeedimetla. But when he came to know that Venkat was a kingpin in the drug smuggling world, he decided to go for an illegal lab to produce banned drugs.

“He was my classmate in Satyavani Vidya Niketan School. When I got posting in Bengaluru, I met him. I came to know that he was going to start his own business besides his scientist’s post in Bengaluru. When I mentioned about my plans to start a lab, he told me about manufacturing narcotics. I invested Rs 1.2 crore,” Rajasekar Reddy stated in his confession.

The officer also confessed that the crores of rupees he had earned from the illicit drug trade had been invested in land and financial institutions. In the last week of September, they got a buyer. “A buyer wanted 250 kg of amphetamine. It was prepared and ready to be smuggled out when we were arrested by the NCB officials,” he said.
