Bengaluru: 5 held for robbing bank employee
BENGALURU: A gang of five robbers, who had abducted and robbed a 32-year-old bank employee, were arrested by Siddapura police on Wednesday. The gang members had allegedly abducted Ramchandra, an employee with Syndicate Bank, on September 27.
Police have identified the accused as Vinay Kumar (23), a resident of Dhodda Mavalli, Satish (24), from Thayappa Garden, Vishnu (24), from Thyagarajanagar, Dorekumar (23), from Hanumanthanagar and Lakshman Kumar (23) from Jayanagar.
According to the police, the accused had intercepted Ramachandra at V.V. Puram Road while he was returning home from work. They forcibly took him to the Lalbagh West gate and then to an under construction metro station building and assaulted him. They took away his silver waist chain, silver ring and Rs 11,500 in cash. The forced him to reveal his ATM pin, withdrew Rs 40,000, and fled.
The complainant approached the police station and filed a complaint. The police checked CCTV footage at the ATM, which led to the arrest of the gang members. The police said they have seized silver chain, weighing 45 grams, Rs 11,500 in cash and three two-wheelers from the accused.
