Bengaluru: Japanese Business man bag stolen from cab on KH road

They diverted the attention of the cab driver and made away with the bag.

Bengaluru: In a case of attention diversion, a Japanese national was robbed of his bag, containing cash and important documents, on K.H. Road.

According to the police, the incident happened last Friday. The victim was travelling in a cab when the gang struck. They diverted the attention of the cab driver and made away with the bag.

Police said the Japanese national, Kanreko Tomakazu, had come to the city on a business trip and went to a Japanese restaurant on K.H. Road to have dinner.

He left the bag in the backseat of the car and asked the driver to wait for him. While the driver was waiting, two men aged around 25 to 30 years dropped few currency notes of Rs 10 denomination and informed the driver about it.

Police said when the driver got down from the car to pick it up the currency notes; one of them took the bag and fled. The theft came to light when Tomakazu returned after dinner and found his bag missing. He asked the driver who narrated the incident.

Tamokazu rushed to Wilson Garden police station and filed a complaint. According to him, the bag contained a laptop, his passport, 60,000 Japanese yen, worth Rs 37,200, official records and office keys. The Wilson garden police have taken up a case and analyzing the CCTV footage to identify the accused.
