Couple snatches gold from woman in Guntur

In the afternoon, a couple came to her house, saying they want to purchase saree falls.

Guntur: A couple, with their faces masked, snatched gold ornaments from a woman trader at her house near Sri Satyanarayana Swamy temple in old Guntur in a broad daylight on Tuesday.

Old Guntur CI P. Bala Muralikrishna said Kothamasu Swarna Kumari has been running a shop in her house selling saree falls. In the afternoon, a couple came to her house, saying they want to purchase saree falls.

After seeing some saree falls, the couple, observing that there was no one in the house, wielding a knife and forcefully snatched two gold bangles and a black stone gold chain from her.

Soon, they tried to flee from the spot on their motorcycle. However, Swarna Kumari ran onto the road and tried to catch the duo but the couple threw her aside and fled the spot.

On information, the police, led by DSP K. Srinivasulu rushed to the spot and enquired about the incident.

They found footage of the couple escaping on a bike by throwing away Swarna Kumari. All this got recorded in a nearby CCTV camera.

The police collected the footage and formed two special teams to nab the culprits with the help of CCTV footage. Old Guntur police registered a case. Police urged the people to be careful while walking on the road and inform police about strangers.
