KOZHIKODE: A Mysore kalyanam (marriage to a man in Mysore for less dowry) victim hailing from Vellamunda, Wayanad, has landed in Government Medical College Hospital here with burns from an acid attack.  Police said Faseela (22), was married to Punku Noorulla, Howralli Street, Bengaluru, and her relatives took her to the hospital with burned food pipe and intestine. She is recovering in the hospital, said sources.  They said her husband gave her acid saying it was water.

He had taken her ornaments in the guise of renovating their house. When the renovation works delayed, Faseela and her relatives started seeking her ornaments back, and this irritated Noorulla.  The victim also said he used to beat her regularly and after making her drink the acid, he took her to a hospital in Bengaluru, before informing her relatives.  Wayanad magistrate will record her statements from the hospital, said the police.
