Chennai: The city police arrested a gang that robbed a beauty parlour owner of her gold chain at TP Chatram on Sunday night. The arrested were identified as C Rajesh(21) Rahul (21), Diwakaran (21), Jainulabdeen (21) and
Harikrishnan(21).According to police, Karthika Rani(27), owns a beauty parlour in T.P Chatram. The incident happened around 9 pm when Karthikawas about to close the parlour and leave.
The four-member gang reached the place in an autorickshaw and barged into the parlour. After ensuring that Rani was alone, the gang members threatened her at knifepoint, robbed her chain weighing four sovereigns and fled the scene.
Based on the complaint by Rani at T.P.Chatram police, a case was registered. The police checked CCTV footages which showed the autorickshaw's registration number. With the help of the registration number, the police traced autorickshaw owner Harikrishnan. Based on his inputs, other suspects were nabbed. The gold chain was recovered and returned to Karthika. The accused were remanded to judicial custody.
