Big Boss show faces rights probe

An activist had filed a complaint against Bigg Boss with the commission.

Hyderabad: The Human Rights Commission has ordered an inquiry into the human rights violations at the Bigg Boss Telugu show. The HRC asked the police commissioner to submit a report on this. An activist had filed a complaint against Bigg Boss with the commission.

Balala Hakkula Sangham activist Achyuth Rao in his petition to HRC alleged that the show compelled participants to engage in ‘inhuman activities’. “The participants are punished often. They are made to stick plaster on their mouth so that they do not talk. They are asked to dip 50 times in swimming pools and are made to sleep in the garden at night. They are also asked to chop a bag full of onions as punishment,” said the complainant.

“These activities are severe rights violations. The Madras HC had taken objection to a similar show that was telecasted on a Tamil TV channel,” the petitioner stated.

Bigg Boss Telugu, which premiered on July 15, reportedly has the largest set built for any television show. It is also the 'most expensive' show in the history of Telugu television.
