Search on for two for raping 11-year-old in Aruvikkara

Incident took place at Velloorkonam near Aruvikkara

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Aruvikkara police has started a probe to find two youths in connection with the rape of a 11-year-old-girl earlier this week. A medical examination has confirmed the rape of the girl who is studying in fourth standard. The incident happened at Velloorkonam near Aruvikkara and the girl has hinted at the involvement of four people but police believe only two were involved.

As per the girl’s statement, a local youth whom she recognised by face stopped her at a bylane near Velloorkonam on Monday. He along with another auto rickshaw driver threatened her and forced her to get inside the autorickshaw. She was then asked to get out near Aruvikkara reservoir and was later picked up by another duo in another autorickshaw. The youth raped her inside a vacant house with autorickshaw driver waiting outside.

The girl was then dropped by the perpetrators near Government Polytechnic at Manja and some locals who knew her family took her to home. She later narrated the whole incident to her parents. “After studying her statement we understand it’s the same autodriver and youth who has taken her. The girl is slightly abnormal and very slow. She is studying in fourth standard though she is older than others in class. Since rape was confirmed we have put six suspected youths in the area in surveillance,” said a police officer.

Though police officers had visited the spot where girl claims rape has happened, circumstantial evidences hinted that no incident happened in the house that has been locked up by owner for several days. A probe is being conducted by Nedumangaud Circle Inspector Stwart Keeler.
