Gopalapuram police launch operations to rescue kidnapped boy

HYDERABAD: The Gopalapuram police of Hyderabad city have launched a search operation to rescue a seven-month-old boy identified as Kanhaiya, who was kidnapped at Secunderabad railway station late on Tuesday evening.

Kanhaiya along with his three elder brothers, aged 4, 3 and 2, were waiting on the footpath at the railway station, when an unknown person kidnapped the boy. Their parents — Pinky Devi and Ajay — were engaged in an argument and had gone a few metres away from the spot, leaving the children.

According to police, the couple belonging to Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh migrated to Telangana for livelihood, a few years ago, and were residing at Isnapur village near Patancheru in Hyderabad outskirts, where they worked on daily wages.

Meanwhile, Ajay got addicted to alcohol and started harassing Pinky. Upset over this, Pinky Dewvi decided to return home along with children. Initially Ajay was not willing to go with her, but after much persuasion he also agreed.

Accordingly, on Tuesday they came to Secunderabad railway station to take a night train to Uttar Pradesh. At the railway station, Ajay picked up an argument with Pinky Devi saying that he would not have any work at home and that he would stay back at Isnapur and walked away, leaving her and the children near the exit gate outside the railway station.

Pinky Devi ran behind him requesting him to go with them to Uttar Pradesh. When they returned to the children after a while, they found Kanhaiya missing. They searched for him and later lodged a complaint with the police.

SHO Gopalapuram Muralidhar karanam said a kidnap case has been registered and two special teams have been deputed to rescue the child and nab the kidnapper. “ We are working on some clues and are hopeful to trace the child soon,” he said.
