In overall 90 accused, CID arrests two more in Eamcet scam

Duo allegedly met accused many times to discuss paper leakage.

Hyderabad: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Thursday arrested two persons associated with corporate colleges in connection with the Eamcet paper leak reported in 2016.

The two were identified as Veleti Vasu Babu, 50, dean of the Sri Chaitanya Junior College at Chaitanyapuri and Kamma Venkata Narayana Rao, 54, agent for admissions in Narayana and Chaitanya colleges, and a resident of Guntur in Andhra Pradesh.

CID superintendent of police J. Parimala Hana Nutan said Vasu Babu was in charge of six campuses.

“During the analysis of call data records (CDR), it was found that Vasu Babu and Narayana Rao were in touch with Dr Dhananjay, Tauqeer and Dr Sandeep Kumar who conducted preparation camps with the leaked Eamcet medical question paper in Bhubaneswar,” the CID official said.

Vasu Babu and Narayana Rao allegedly met the accused several times in the city between February and July 2016 and discussed the leakage of the Eamcet paper and gathering students to coach them to answer the paper.

“Vasu Babu and Narayana Rao arranged six students for the camp in Bhubneswar and helped them prepare with the leaked question paper along with students who were brought by other agents. All the six students attended took the Eamcet on July 9, 2016, and three students got good ranks,” the CID official said.

Vasu Babu and Narayana Rao had collected Rs 35 lakh from each student and handed over to the accused on July 12 and 14, 2016, in the city. The duo were in touch with the accused, who have been arrested previously, and the parents of students.

There are at least 90 accused in the Eamcet medical question paper leak case and 64 have been arrested so far. Vasu Babu and Siva Narayana were listed as accused numbers 89 and 90.
