RSS leader assaulted in Mangaluru
Mangaluru: Despite the local police being alert in the district and prohibitory norms under Section 144 being imposed, an RSS leader was assaulted on BC Road in the city on Tuesday night. Sharath, who owns a laundry shop on BC Road was attacked when he was about to close his shop on Tuesday night around 9.30 pm. It is alleged that the attack was committed by three persons who arrived on motorbike and were wearing helmets. Praveen and Ravoof, who were present in the nearby shops immediately rushed Sharath to a private hospital. Later he was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru. Sharath is said to be out of danger. Though there were rumours of saffron outfits calling for a bandh, the organisstions have denied any move of this kind. Bantwal has been tense since May 26 after communal tension in Kalldka in the district. Recently an SDPI leader Ashraf Kalayil was murdered in the district. Ashraf, also an autorickshaw driver, was hacked to death in Benjanpadavu. The incident had escalated tension in Bantwal that led to prohibitory orders being imposed under Section 144.
