Bengaluru: Home-alone woman tied up, robbed of jewellery
Bengaluru: A 50-year-old home alone woman was tied up and robbed of gold ornaments by two people, including a woman, in Shakti Ganapathi Nagar in Basaveshwarnagar police limits on Tuesday.
The victim, Kavita, heard a knock on the door and when she opened it, she found a woman at her doorstep. The woman requested Kavita to appoint her as a maid as she was poor and had to look after her children.
When Kavita told her that she did not need any maids, the accused woman asked for food. Kavita let her into the house, closed the door, asked her to sit and went into the kitchen to get some food.
A few minutes later, Kavita heard a knock on the door again. She opened it and found a man asking for her son Anil. "The victim told the man that her son had gone to work and closed the door. At the same time, the woman sitting inside the house had signalled to the accused man that Kavita was alone at home. When Kavita went into the kitchen, the woman opened the door and let the man in who tied up Kavita and fled with gold and silver ornaments," the police said.
Basaveshwaranagar police suspect that the thieves may have planned the burglary well in advance and were aware that Kavita would be alone at home in the evening as her two children went to work.
