Bengaluru: Alert cop, home guard help nab two robbers

The arrests happened due to the alertness of two people - constable Srikanth Poojar and his associate home guard Naveen.

Bengaluru: Two robbers, who were extorting money from people at knifepoint during night, were arrested by K.R. Puram police station on Wednesday. The arrests happened due to the alertness of two people - constable Srikanth Poojar and his associate home guard Naveen.

They identified the accused and alerted their senior officials. The accused have been identified as Sandeep and Lokesh. They had robbed of one Venkatesh, an electrical contractor, at knifepoint when was passing by Medahalli on his bike early Tuesday.

Venkatesh handed over his wallet and mobile phone to them out of fear and left. After travelling a distance, he dialed 100 and narrated the incident. The staff responded immediately and alerted the K.R. Puram police, who rushed to the spot but in vain. After examining the CCTV footage, the police circulated the robbers' images and the auto they had used.
