Two women tied up at home, robbed in Choolai
Chennai: Two youngsters who gained entry into an apartment by posing as friends of the college-going son of a housewife robbed her and her mother-in-law in Choolai on Tuesday afternoon. The two tied up the women after gagging them and walked away with Rs 6 lakh cash and Rs 10 lakh worth gold ornaments, after latching the flat from outside. The incident happened in Gurudev apartments on Avadana Papaiah Road.
According to the police, Madhu, wife of Rajesh Kumar, a leather trader, allowed the youths inside her flat when the two claimed that they were students of Loyola college and friends of her son studying in the same college. “Once the two were in, it was easy for them. They threatened Madhu and mother-in-law at knifepoint, tied up the two using a nylon rope after gagging the two women. They took the gold and cash from the bureau and walked away after latching the door from outside,” the police said.
Only after Rajesh Kumar’s son came from college in the evening were the two shocked women untied. They then narrated the incident to him who later informed his father. A complaint had been lodged with the Vepery police by the family.
