MALAPPURAM: A 19-year-old youth identified as Shabir from Karulayi in Nilambur was stabbed to death on Tuesday following a dispute over the overtaking of a vehicle. The incident took place around 1.30 pm, police said. Three persons were taken into custody in connection with the case, they added. The killing was sequel to a dispute between Shabir and his friends and Panikkaveetil Muneer and Thazhath Veetil Rasack, the accused in custody, on Monday over ‘harassing girls’ and overtaking of vehicles.
The police and the local people intervened and the matter was settled. However, Shabir and his associates blocked the vehicle used by the accused on Tuesday leading to a fresh round of clashes between them. In the melee Shabir was stabbed. Although he was rushed to the Nilambur district hospital his life could not be saved.
