No need for CBI probe in Sreejith death: Kerala government

The investigation in the case was progressing well and in the right manner, counsel for the government said.

KOCHI: The state government on Tuesday in the High Court has submitted said that there was no need for a CBI probe in the death of S.R. Sreejith of Varapuzha in police custody. The investigation in the case was progressing well and in the right manner, counsel for the government said. Akhila, wife of Sreejith, however, pointed out that no action was taken against higher officials involved.

She sought the CBI probe on the grounds that police investigating a case in which cops are the culprits will not help in booking the culprits. She, however, has also mentioned no one should be allowed to hijack the incident for their private purposes. BJP leader A.N. Radhakrishnan has submitted an application for impleading in the case. The court has posted the case for further hearing on June 13.
