Rajahmundry: Man pushes lover off bridge
Rajahmundry: A man pushed his lover off a bridge into the river Godavari to avoid marrying a Dalit girl in East Godavari. According to I. Polavaram police, Rajahmundry-based Nasika Srinivasa Rao and Aliveni were in love from 2007. However, she started demanding him to marry her since 2015. Rao had kept postponing the marriage citing opposition of his family members.
On Sunday, the police said he picked her up from her office, pretending that they would get married at a temple. “On the way to the temple, they stopped over at GMC Balayogi bridge. During the course of their discussion, he lost his cool and beat her up. He pushed her off the bridge to kill her,” the police said. After hearing her screams for help, local fishermen rescued her the river. While the accused is still at large, police booked a case against him.
