Clips reveal twist in accident case in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Mystery shrouds the death of a 29-year-old helper working on a borewell machine, after police recovered a CCTV footage showing a fight.
Rajashekar Reddy was originally recorded as dead in an accident in Pedda Amberpet a week ago. The footage seized by police later shows his colleagues beating him. His family alleged that his colleagues killed him and then made the death an accident.
Rajashekar Reddy belonged to Nalgonda and had a tractor. Since he was unable to earn much from the tractor, his father Ravinder Reddy promised him help to buy a borewell drilling machine. To learn the machine’s operations, Rajashekar hired as a machine operator with Pradeep Reddy as his helper.
In May, Pradeep purchased a new borewell machine and he offered a party to all his workers at Andole Maisamma on May 25. After consuming alcohol, Rajashekar, Pradeep and five others were returning to their room, police said.
Police said the seven men stopped at a dhaba in Pedda Amberpet for dinner. Rajashekar was washing his hands after finishing supper when water fell on his colleagues, Venkatesham and Danaiah. An argument broke out and it led to a fight and Rajashekar ran on to the road.
His colleagues said a vehicle hit him, killing him on the spot. Later, an accidental death was registered, following his father’s complaint that his son fell accidentally from the borewell vehicle.
The workshop owner had installed four cameras to record thefts, as the place was isolated. On Wednesday, Ravinder approached the police alleging that Rajashekar was killed by his colleagues, who hit his head on a vehicle. Two cameras recorded the incident.
“The CCTV clearly shows a fight, but the cameras could not cover them on the road. We are awaiting the PME report to know the cause of death,” Hayathnagar inspector J. Narender Goud said, adding that all angles were being investigated.
