Hyderabad: A 28-year-old housewife who was pillion riding with her husband to purchase vegetables was killed in an accident in Moinabad on Friday.
Deepika was run over by a truck which hit their scooter.
Police said Vadde Praveen, a resident of Murtuzaguda village in Moinabad mandal, and his wife Deepika and daughter were going to Moinabad on their scooter to purchase vegetables.
Praveen was driving and Deepika and their daughter were on the pillion.
As road repairs were going on, traffic was moving in a single lane.
While they were driving on the single lane, a speeding lorry hit their scooter from behind. The trio fell down from the bike due to the impact of the collission.
While Praveen and his daughter fell on the left, Deepika fell on the right and came under the lorry. She was ran over by the vehicle.
Deepika sustained a severe head injury and died on the spot. Praveen and his daughter escaped with minor injuries. Police registered a case of accidental death and inflicting injuries.
They detained the lorry driver for questioning.
