Kochi: Kunnathunadu police on Friday arrested a Jharkhand native on charge of cheating around Rs 1.50 lakh from a Pallikkara native using a fake website. The arrested was identified as Kalmuddin Ansari, 27, of Devigar district in Jharkhand.
According to police, the complainant was trying to extend the date of his flight ticket through the Indigo Airlines’ website when the accused, through spoofing, led him to the fake website created by him that looks exactly like the original. Upon directions received from the fake website, the victim installed fraud applications that ‘mirrored’ all the details including mobile and banking details stored in his phone on the website enabling the accused to steal an amount of Rs 1.50 lakh from the victim’s account online.
A special investigation team reached Jharkhand and nabbed the accused after staying there for over a week
