Singapore woman' traps Hyderabad man
Hyderabad: An event manager from the city was honey trapped and blackmailed by a woman claiming to be from Singapore. She sent him a friend request on Facebook and sweet talked him into sending her photos of himself and having video chats with her. She then morphed those photos and videos, sent them back to him, and began demanding money.
“10 days ago, I received a friend request from the profile of a girl named Criztine Lea Wetpacks from Singapore. She told me that she worked at a dental clinic and that she was interested in making new friends. We started chatting and after a while, she asked for video chats. Things were going well until Tuesday when I received an obscene video and morphed photos of myself. They were sent to me from an unknown number via WhatsApp.
The sender started threatening saying that the videos and photos would be posted on social media, and my reputation would be destroyed if I did not send money,” said the victim, a resident of LB Nagar.
“Unable to bear the torture, he decided to send Rs 30,000. His parents noticed that he was depressed and dejected, and they asked him what was wrong. After finding out what had happened, they approached the cybercrime cell of Rachakonda,” said an official from the cybercrime Cell. He added that the officials also counselled the youngster and gave him courage.
The victim then sent a message to his tormentor and said that he had filed a complaint with the cyber crime police. After that, he stopped receiving messages and the woman’s Facebook profile was deactivated.
