Woman denies receiving triple talaq notice, Telangana cops to question man

Naznin said she did not get any such letter, and filed a complaint.

Hyderabad: A 30-year-old man working in Saudi Arabia pronounced talaq, divorcing his wife by placing an advertisement in a local newspaper. Mohammed Mushtaquddin, a resident of King Colony, Shashtripuram, has been booked by the Moghalpura police following a complaint by his wife Naznin. According to the police, soon after Mushtaquddin returned to Saudi Arabia on February 24 this year, he called his wife and told her that his lawyer would send her a letter seeking divorce.

Naznin said she did not get any such letter. After two weeks, Mushtaquddin placed an advertisement in Siasat Daily stating that he was divorcing his wife. Naznin told the police that she and Mushtaquddin got married in 2012 in Hyderabad. She went to Saudi Arabia and lived with her huband for four years. When she got pregnant, she came back to Hyderabad, where she delivered a baby girl.

“After the girl child was born, Mushtaquddin took his wife and the baby to Saudi Arabia again. On February 2, the couple returned to Hyderabad. Two weeks later, due to some marital dispute, Naznin went to stay with her parents. Mushtaquddin went back to Saudi Arabia and telephoned his wife from there saying he would divorce her,” said a police official involved in the investigation. Naznin came to the police station and lodged a complaint on Tuesday. Police said that they will send a notice to Mushtaquddin asking him to appear before the investigating officers as part of the probe.
