SI question paper leak: Gang booked under KCOCA

The police said that the accused have a well-established network involved in question paper leaks for years.

Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) booked the PSI question paper leak kingpin Shivakumaraiah alias Guruji and his three associates under the Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act (KCOCA) as investigators found that he was running a crime syndicate.

The CCB sleuths arrested Shivakumaraiah (67) and his associate Naveen from SKS High School in Doddaakudali Village in Kodagu district on November 25, 2018, a day before the recruitment examination. The police recovered from them leaked question papers of Police Sub-Inspector , Constable and BMTC Administrator’s examination.

Shivakumaraiah was earlier booked under KCOCA in 2016 by the Criminal Investigation Department after he was arrested for leaking the PU chemistry question paper.

While Shivakumaraiah, Naveen, Basavaraju and Basavaraj Hanumanthaiah have been booked under KCOCA, efforts are on to nab another accused Ameer Ahmed of Davangere. The police said that the accused have a well-established network involved in question paper leaks for years. The accused leaked the question papers from printing press and sold them through their network.

The accused had a network of candidates who purchased the question papers along with the key answers a day before the examination, police said.
