Hyderabad: Chain snatchers held, gold seized
Hyderabad: Helped by CCTV footage, chase and catch teams of the Cyberabad police nabbed an interstate chain snatcher wanted in nearly 27 snatchings in the city, from Shamshabad on Saturday.
Around 25 tolas of gold jewellery was seized from him. Three others are absconding. A chase and catch constable who played an active role in nabbing the snatcher was awarded a prize of Rs 60,000.
A police official said that Govind, Harbir, Manpreet and Sanju were members of the UP-based Bawaria gang, involved in snatchings across the country. The gang was earlier busted in Delhi.
Warrants are pending against them there. To escape the Delhi police, gang leader Manpreet planned to shift to Hyderabad and continue snatchings.
They purchased a Pulsar bike bearing registration number UP 11Z 6289 in November and transported it by rail from UP to Hyderabad. They pretended to sell sarees and rented a room in Shastripuram and got acquainted with the area.
Manpreeth and Govind committed 27 chain snatchings in Hyder-abad. Using CCTV footages collected from Hyderguda, the police nabbed Govind.
Later, the stolen property of around 25 tolas of gold jewellery were recovered from their rented house.
During investigation, police found the gang was involved in 17 cases in Cyberabad and 10 cases in Hyderabad. Govind has been remanded and a hunt is on to nab the remaining members of the gang.
M. Yadaiah, a member of the chase and catch team, was awarded a cash prize of Rs 60,000 for his active role in nabbing the chain snatcher.
Hyderabad: Fake staffer arrested
A fake invigilator was caught at an Interme-diate exam centre in Shamshabad on Satur-day. The accused, Suman, entered the hall using a fake ID card. The Regional Inspection Officer (RIO) enquired about him and he was caught.
He had a pen drive containing answers of all Intermediate subjects. Authorities said that he was working in a private college whose students were appearing for exam at the centre.
Meanwhile, a case of impersonation was reported from a college in Narayanaguda. An invigilator caught a student red handed for trying to write the exam in place of his friend.
Meanwhile, 28 cases of malpractices were reported from 10 districts in the second year exam held on Saturday.
