Six arrested for thefts in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police nabbed three persons at Ibrahimpatnam for cattle thefts in various police stations of the city.
The suspects, who were earlier also arrested in cattle theft cases, came to know each other at the Cherlapally Central Prison and teamed up to steal cattle.
The arrested are identified as D. Naveen Kumar, 36, A. Venkatesh, 23, and P. Ravinder, 29, while four others are absconding.
The gang is involved in eight cattle theft cases after they were released on bail. DCP LB Nagar M. Venkateswar Rao said that Naveen, the prime suspect, initially ran private hostels in the city and cattle sheds in his village at Nagarkurnool district. After he incurred losses, he started committing cattle thefts. While he was in jail, he made friends with other inmates, Venkatesh, Ravinder and Ramachandraiah.
The police arrested them and recovered '2.65 lakh cash, one buffalo and a calf and the vehicle used for transporting cattle.
In another incident, Meerpet police on Monday arrested three other persons in two different cases and recovered properties worth '3.45 lakh from them. The arrested were identified as P. Nagaraju, 54, and P. Prabhaker, 29, in an attention diversion case and K. Srikanth, 21, in an automobile theft case.
DCP LB Nagar said. “The accused were cheat ingwomen under the guise of polishing gold ornaments. While polishing, they would divert the attention of the women and exchange their gold articles with fake ornaments and flee from the spot.” Based on complaints by the women, the police nabbed them and recovered gold chains weighing 4.5 tola from them. In the other case, Srikanth, a car driver, was arrested for committing vehicle thefts. Five bikes worth '2.10 lakh were recovered from him.
