Kochi: Woman killed during off-road bike riding

The body was kept at the hospital mortuary and will be handed over to the kin after an autopsy, police said.

Kochi: A 23-year old woman was killed during an off-road bike riding at a private riding centre at Koompanpara near Adimali on Saturday.

She was identified as Chippy Rajendran, 23, daughter of the late Rajendran and Nisha Rajendran of Thripunithura. Nisha Rajendran is the standing committee chairperson (development) of Thripunithura municipality.

According to Adimali police, the incident happened around 11 a.m. when Nisha tried to ride the bike. "According to eyewitnesses, she lost control of the vehicle, hit the ground and suffered serious head injury," an official with the Adimali police station said. She was rushed to a hospital nearby, but due to her serious head injury, the hospital referred her to Rajagiri hospital at Aluva. However, her condition worsened on the way and she was admitted to a private hospital at Perumbavoor. She succumbed to her injuries around 1 p.m.
