Car cleaner chased, hacked to death
Bengaluru: A 28-year-old man was brutally hacked to death in broad daylight by four unidentified assailants allegedly over old rivalry on Hulimavu Road in Bannerghatta police limits on Friday.
The deceased, Sathish Reddy, was a car cleaner and a resident of Kalkere village. He was returning home on his bike after dropping his wife to work at Electronics City around 9 am. The four assailants on two bikes started following him. When he got to know that he was being tailed, Sathish tried to speed away. But the assailants chased him and waylaid Sathish’s bike. Trying to escape, Sathish jumped off the bike and ran towards a vacant land. But the assailants caught up with him, hacked him to death with machetes and fled the spot, the police said.
Bannerghatta police shifted the body to Victoria Hospital. The body was handed over to his family after the postmortem. The initial investigation revealed that Sathish had several criminal cases filed against him and was also arrested by the Bannerghatta police in an assault case a few months ago, for which he had served a jail term.
Police have formed teams to catch the assailants. They suspect the attack was a case of old rivalry.
