Warangal: Husband brings his wife home after spat, kills her

Police said the murder took place on Tuesday night but the body was discovered on Wednesday morning.

Warangal: An alcoholic husband Thota Ramesh killed his 25-year-old wife Subba Lakshmi and left her body on the outskirts of Venkatapuram in Mulugu district.

A pesticide bottle, knife, liquor bottle and some chicken curry in a bowl were found at the spot.

Though police did not confirm how she was murdered the scene of crime suggested that he might have poisoned her as there was froth at her nose and mouth.

Inspector K. Shiva Prasad and SI G. Thirupathi inspected the area and collected evidence for forensic examination. The body was shifted to the Eturnagaram government hospital for post-mortem. Ramesh is absconding.

Villagers said Ramesh, who worked as a driver, used to harass his wife and they had frequent fights due to which she has been staying at her parents’ house with her two children in Chokkala. Recently, during one such fights Ramesh even poured petrol on his house in a bid to burn the house in an inebriated state.

The villagers got hold of him and tied him to a tree.

On Tuesday, he went to her parents’ house and convinced her to return with him.

However, on the way he took her to a secluded area on the outskirts of the village and killed her. Villagers said he was was going about the village telling people that he killed his wife and even showed the gold ornaments she had on her. But as he was drunk, the villagers did not believe him at first but grew suspicious and informed her parents.

The police, relatives and villagers started searching for her and found her body on Wednesday morning.

The women of the village protsted and demanded that strict punishment be given to the accused.

The police has launched a manhunt to nab him.
