Case against Wadakkanchery gangrape victim

Both the members of the committee and cops told DC they could not officially confirm such matters as it was related to the JJ Act.

Thrissur: Medical College Police Station at Mullamkunathukkavu here has registered a case against the alleged victim of the Wadakkanchery gangrape case on the basis of a complaint filed earlier by the parents of her husband with the Child Welfare Committee. It was mentioned in the complaint that the victim, who is the mother of two, had been physically torturing her children. After the committee handed over the complaint to the police, the statement of the two children were recorded by the cops on Saturday night and a case was registered against the victim as per the Juvenile Justice Act.

However, both the members of the committee and cops told DC they could not officially confirm such matters as it was related to the JJ Act. The victim’s lawyer C R Jaison questioned the timing of registering the case as it was done soon after the court ordered the police investigation into the gang rape to be conducted under the supervision of the court on Saturday. The victim had been staying away from the children for some time now and the decision of the police to register a case now was suspicious, he said.
