Tirupati: Tirupati police arrested five notorious inter-state thieves on Sunday and recovered stolen goods from them, including 15 motorbikes, 393 grams of gold ornaments, 100 grams of silver articles, and Rs 1.9 lakh in cash.
The five accused, Kachileti Venkatesh, M. Manikantan, P. Gemini, R. Lokesh, and Shaik Masthan, have a long history of involvement in about 28 theft cases registered at various police stations across Tirupati district. They are also suspected of being involved in similar cases in Karnataka.
SP Parameswara Reddy commended the efforts of the crime department for apprehending the accused.
