Bengaluru: Couple held for sexual harassment
Bengaluru: A couple has been arrested by Shivaji Nagar police for sexual harassment, blackmailing and extortion. They were charged with harassing a 45-year-old home maker and extorting a ransom of Rs 8 lakh. The accused have been identified as Imran Ghori, a resident of Gandhi Nagar and his wife Seema Khan.
According to the police Imran is the friend of victim's son and said to be a member of a human rights organisation. The accused used to often visit the victim’s house, often under the pretext of helping her ailing husband.
The accused developed an illicit relationship with the victim and later began to blackmail and threaten her with videos and photographs of their private moments.
The victim managed to arrange and pay Rs 8 lakh, but the accused continued to demand money.
Last Tuesday, when the victim had gone to a private hospital to get dialysis treatment done for her husband, Imran followed her and demanded more money. He threatened to circulate the videos and photos on social media platforms.
When victim tried to resist, the accused assaulted her. Unable to bear with the harassment, the victim discussed the issue with the family and filed a police complaint on Thursday.
Based on the complaint, the police arrested Imran on Sunday , who confessed that even his wife was part of the crime. Seema knew about Imran's activities and she helped him to extort money, the police said.
They were charged with various sections of sexual harassment, extortion and criminal intimidation and remanded to judicial custody.
