Police suspect his network to be wider and more number of students to involved in the gang.
Hyderabad: Shameerpet police, who arrested five students of BITS-Pilani, Hyderabad, found that another student from a reputed college in Secunderabad supplied ganja to the arrested students. Police arrested Jwala Prasad Pandey, 19, a final year degree student of Bhavan’s college and recovered over 200 grams of the contraband packed in 6 packets from his possession. He was sent to remand on Saturday. Mr Bhasker Reddy, inspector, said that Jwala Pandey is a resident of Sainikpuri and knew the BITS students through one of his neighbours, who is also a student of BITS. He has been supplying them ganja for the past four months.
“He was also habituated to smoking ganja for the past couple of years and had been procuring the contraband from a source in Dhoolpet. He supplied the same to the students of BITS on a commission basis,” said the inspector. Based on the confessions of the five students arrested on Thursday, police traced Jwala Pandey. Though Pandey admitted to supplying ganja only to the arrested students, police suspect his network to be wider and more number of students to involved in the gang.
