Hennur police arrests three for extorting money
Bengaluru: The Hennur police have arrested three people for allegedly extorting money from Kerala based businessmen, after supplying prostitutes to them and raiding a house posing as police. The accused have been identified as M. Rasheed, 34, Mohammed Samd, 29, and Mohammed Shabbir, 40, all residents of Chikkabanasawadi.
According to the police, five businessmen from Kerala had come to the city for Deepavali shopping on October 28. They were staying at a lodge in Sheshadripuram and had approached a person to arrange for prostitutes. He took all the five to a house at Chelakere in Hennur, brought two women and left after collecting money from them.
“After a while, the girls sent a message through WhatsApp to Rasheed informing him about the five men. Few minutes later, Rasheed and three others raided the house posing as CCB police and also allegedly assaulted the businessmen accusing them of indulging in illegal activity. Later, they extorted a gold chain weighing 63 grams and Rs 80,000 in cash and two mobile phones from the businessmen, telling them that they would not register any case. However, the accused had threatened the men that they would reveal the matter to their family members, if they informed anybody about the incident,” the police said.
One of the businessmen approached the police and had filed a complaint. The police, who launched an investigation, learnt that one, Rasheed, was arrested in a similar case by the Banasawadi police.
