Fake job firms busted, 5 held in Hyderabad

The six were cheating unemployed youths promising them jobs in West Asian countries.

Hyderabad: The police busted five fake manpower consultancies in the city on Friday. The cops arrested six fraudsters and recovered hundreds of documents including the victims’ passports.

The arrested men are Irfan Ali Khan, Mohd Rizwan Qureshi, Syed Parvez, Syed Abdul Raheem, Mohammed Saleem Khan and Mohd Ayoob Khan, police officials said. The six were cheating unemployed youths promising them jobs in West Asian countries.

“They were running fake manpower agencies without the permission of the Protector of Emigrants and were cheating people by taking money from them.

They collected huge amounts ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh from each applicant. Most of the candidates did not get a visa. When they asked for their money the suspects gave various excuses,” said task force DCP B. Limba Reddy. The fraudsters also sent some people to Dubai for jobs by giving them visiting visas and they had to return later.

The police has not found the exact number of victims. Cops say that dozens of people have been cheated. The suspects were produced in court and were remanded to judicial custody. Police booked cases against them for cheating.
