THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cyber police has arrested a youth hailing from Malappuram on charges of blackmailing women using their obscene pictures.
Police identified the accused as Mohammed Sanif, 32, of Ponmala in Malappuram.
According to the police, the accused was a computer trainer in Malappuram. He used to lure woman by offering to marry them and sexually abuse them. He would also take pictures of intimate moments with them. He would later end relationships with them by deliberately creating differences. Though he was married, he used to pose as a bachelor.
He would later blackmail the women using the pictures. In order to protect himself he used to claim that someone else managed to get the images from them and they were demanding the money.
He also created fake social media accounts for the purpose. He was held following a probe into Rs 7 lakh demanded from a lady.
The accused, who operated from abroad, was held on his arrival. A police team led by Cyber Police DySP M. Iqbal nabbed the accused. Computers and other gadgets used for the crime were also seized from him. He maintained that he indulged in cheating as he had some personal liabilities.
