Serilingampally mandal tahsildar gets jail in contempt case

The judge suspended the implementation of the sentence for six weeks to enable the tahsildar to appeal against the sentence.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday sentenced T. Tirupathi Rao, the tahsildar of Serilingampally mandal in Ranga Reddy district, to two months imprisonment and Rs 1,500 fine in a contempt of court case.

Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao, while dealing with a contempt case by one M. Lingamaiah seeking to punish the tahsildar for not mutating his name in revenue records despite a court order granted in 2009 to mutate the name of the petitioners after issuing notices to the affected parties.

Mr Lingamaiah had moved the contempt case in 2014.

The judge found that the tahsildar had wilfully disobeyed the court order.

The judge suspended the implementation of the sentence for six weeks to enable the tahsildar to appeal against the sentence.
