Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police on Wednesday arrested a notorious realtor on charges of cheating gullible individuals by offering them medical seats and jobs in government agencies.

The police said that Kommagonai Srinivas 42, the accused, was a former organising secretary of the Congress party for Rangareddy district. Despite being a high-school dropout, he managed to get appointed to the post by producing fake educational certificates. He also entered the real estate business along with Kalpana Reddy and Suresh five years ago.

Srinivas lured job aspirants by promising them jobs in the prohibition and excise department and the police department, students by promising them medical seats, and businessmen and investors by offering them open plots under legal dispute. He cheated innocent people to the tune of over Rs 9 crores in all.

He also cheated his business partners, for which they filed a criminal case against him at Chaitanyapuri police station. Srinivas is named as the accused in four other cases filed at various police stations in Hyderabad and Cyberabad.

During their investigation, the police recovered documents and a letter of appointment to the post of organising secretary of the Congress party for Rangareddy district. Srinivas was arrested on Wednesday and subproduced before a court.
