Three brothers held for rowdy's murder in Bengaluru

The arrested are Nazir, 25, the prime accused, and his brothers, Ghazi, (24) and Nazim, (21).

BENGALURU: Three brothers, who had hacked 30-year-old rowdy Illiaz, to death in the public near Shivajinagar Circle on Saturday evening, were arrested by Commercial Street police on Tuesday.

The arrested are Nazir, 25, the prime accused, and his brothers, Ghazi, (24) and Nazim, (21). The police said that Illiaz, who had come out on bail, had allegedly eloped with the sister of the accused. Nazir had filed an abduction and rape complaint against Illiaz. Later, Nazir asked Illiaz to marry his sister, but he refused.

A week before his murder, Illiaz had retuned to the city with Nazri’s sister. Though the brothers pleaded with Illiaz to marry their sister, he refused. Nazir, who felt humiliated, hatched a plan to eliminate Illiaz along with his two brothers.

On Saturday, the brothers got information that Illiaz was at a roadside tea stall in Shivajinagar. They went to the tea shop with weapons and hacked Illiaz to death in front of shocked passersby. They then fled from the spot, the police said.

Based on information, the Commercial Street police zeroed in on the accused and arrested them on Tuesday. The brothers have confessed to the crime, the police said.
