Hyderabad: 2 Interstate Drug Peddlers Nabbed Near Kollur

Hyderabad: The sleuths of the Special Operations Team (SOT), Madhapur zone, along with Kollur Police, arrested two interstate peddlers and seized 125 kilograms of ganja, a car and other property worth Rs 35,00,000 from their possession.

The accused were arrested by the police teams on Kollur ORR road while transporting the contraband to Maharashtra from AP, police said. The prime accused Karthik Ravi Kiran Deshmukh (24) and Kamal Sanjay Sirsath (23), natives of Amravati Maharashtra, were arrested by the police teams at Kollur Monday night. Raja Bhai, Raja alias Rajesh Patnayak natives of Balajinagar, Vijayanagaram are at large, Gone Sundeep, Madhapur Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) said in a press meet on Tuesday.

During interrogation, Karthik Ravi confessed that he and accused Raja Bhi (absconding) were partners. The accused, Rajesh Patnayak (absconding), came in contact with accused Raja (absconding), a ganja peddler, Sundeep said.

They went to Vijayanagaram and purchased ganja in a dry form weighing 125 kg from accused Raja Bhai for Rs 3,000 per kilogram of the contraband in 63 packets later, and they dumped the same into their Ford ECO sports car bearing number MH 29 AD 5328, Sundeep said.

Karthik and Kamal Sanjay proceeded with the contraband towards Maharashtra when police intercepted them. However, Rajesh Patnayak boarded a train to Maharashtra, DCP said.

The accused were booked in crime number 71 of 2023 under section Sec 8 (C) read with 20 (b) (ii) (C) NDPS Act 1985 and produced before the court along with the seized property.
