Rape-accused Hyderabad doctor gets bail

HYDERABAD: A doctor, who was wanted since August 12 for allegedly raping a nurse, was granted conditional bail by the High Court on Monday.

While granting bail, the court directed the accused Dr Sandep Bhardwaj to appear before the investigation officer (IO) of Narayanguda police station once in a week.

Bhardwaj and the victim worked in a private hospital in Narayanguda and had a physical relationship for the past two years, police said.

After many pleas to marry her went in vain, the victim approached police and filed a written complaint, police sources revealed.

“We have put charges of rape and SC/ST Atrocities Act against the doctor. Bhardwaj has got bail but we have already prepared a chargesheet against him," said inspector A. Srinivas Reddy.
