Nizam Museum theft: Cops to rely heavily on CC footage
HYDERABAD: With the police not getting any “working clues” in the sensational burglary case reported at the HEH Nizam Museum, they are now relying on closed circuit cameras installed in the surroundings and will also scrutinise thousands of phone calls made from the vicinity. Police teams have begun scanning the closed circuit cameras, both private and public, installed in and around the Nizam Museum area. The police reported that they had managed to get footage of a few suspects who were moving around the vicinity.
Officials investigating the case, say that the thieves might not have been successful in their first attempt and had previously visited the place or at least made a try. “It is the job of professionals and the role of insiders could be limited to turning a blind eye to the heist or helping with the topography of the building. We suspect an organised gang who could have outsourced the job to a small thief,” said a police official.
The police said that the culprits got onto the museum building from an adjacent house and sneaked into the room from where the diamond-studded gold tiffin box weighing about two kilograms was stolen. The police are scouring phones made from in and around the building to other mobile phones repeatedly to zero in on the suspects. And for this, the officials are using special software to analyse mobile calls made for a period of 48 hours.
