HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old woman attempted to immolate herself in front of the Bowenpally police station on Tuesday afternoon. She was admitted to Gandhi Hospital with 40 per cent burn injuries. According to Bowenpally police, M Sabitha (25) is a resident of Anna Nagar and married Dinesh a few years ago. They loved in Bowenpally.
Video footage from CCTV cameras at a commercial establishment located opposite the police station showed Sabitha carrying a bottle running towards the Bowenpally police station on Tuesday afternoon, pouring the fuel on herself, and using a lighter to set herself ablaze. Hearing her cries, police personnel rushed outside, doused the blaze, and rushed her immediately to Gandhi Hospital.
Bowenpally inspector P. Vijay Kumar said that Sabitha had a dispute with her husband. Dinesh. “After knowing about Sabitha’s alleged extramarital relationship with one Venkatesh, he had asked her to go to her maternal house in Tadbund,” he said.
