Hyderabad: An SI from Jubilee Hills police station on Ganesh immersion duty was assaulted by three persons when he told them to move the idol as it was already late. The three were found to be police constables. However, no case was registered.
The organisers of the Ganesh pandal in Rahmathnagar station moved the idol for immersion from the pandal, but after a few meters they stopped to dance. When it went beyond an hour the cops approached them and told them to move the idol.
The organisers told the cops to allow them some more time, but three youths who were heavily drunk came to the cops and picked up an argument with them. When they refused to back down, the cops called the SI. “When the SI came they tried to assault him. They claimed they were cops and knew the rules,” a source said.
The cops found the three were constables at the SR Nagar and Chilkalguda police stations and the Special Branch unit at the Jubilee Hills police station.
Though a case was not registered a GD entry was made at Jubilee Hills police station.
