Chennai: 3 women robbed of chain, cash
Chennai: An auto driver attacked a lone woman passenger and escaped with her mobile phone and cash in Avadi. Two elderly women were relieved of their gold chains in Adyar and K.K. Nagar.
One of the victims, Tamilarasi (30) of Kannapalayam near Avadi, a helper at a private eye hospital, was returning home in an auto-rickshaw at around 10 pm on Friday night. The auto driver suddenly stopped the vehicle in a secluded place on Poonamallee High Road. He attacked Tamilarasi and escaped with her mobile phone and Rs 400.
Tamilarasi, who suffered injuries, treated herself at a private hospital before lodging a complaint at Avadi police station. A hunt has been launched for the auto driver.
Meanwhile, in Adyar, a 68-year-old Suseela was relieved of her five-sovereign chain when she was walking to a nearby a shop in Gandhi Nagar on Friday. Based on her complaint, Adyar police have registered a case.
In another incident, Vijayalakshmi (70) was relieved of her gold chain when she stepped out from her house on 86th street for a walk. “Two men on a two-wheeler trailed her and snatched her chain,” the police said. Based on her complaint, K.K. Nagar police have registered a case and have collected CCTV footage from nearby areas.
