Bengaluru: Five arrested for killing youth

The accused confessed to the killing over an old rivalry.

Bengaluru: The Kalasipalya police have arrested five people in connection with the brutal murder of a 22-year-old youth outside a hardware shop in Bamboo Bazar on Tuesday night.

The accused have been identified as Mudassir alias Chota Panda (24), a resident of Valmiki Nagar, Sultan Pasha (24) and Mazhar Khan (27), both residents of Chandra Layout, Nayeem Pasha alias Pintu (23), a resident of Halaguddadahalli and Mohammed Muzammil alias Mujju (20), a resident of Shamanna Garden on Mysuru Road. They had killed Ameen, an employee of a hardware shop.

The accused confessed to the killing over an old rivalry. They told police that Ameen had last year assaulted their friend Haroon. Since then, the accused were plotting to kill him to avenge the attack. On Tuesday night when Ameen stepped out of the shop, the accused mercilessly attacked him multiple times with machetes, killing him on the spot.

After the murder, the police had detained the accused based on the information about their rivalry. During the interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, the police said.
